ISKSAA DELHI FELLOWSHIP 2020

Hello Everyone!!

I am Dr. Amit Bikram Shah, consultant orthopaedic surgeon from Nepal. It gives me immense pleasure to be sharing the experience of my fellowship with you all. I was blessed with the fellowship opportunity at ISKSAA Delhi Fellowship where I trained under the diligent guidance of Dr. Pushpinder Singh Bajaj himself for a period of six months (January to June 2020).

Dr. Bajaj is an excellent teacher, an exemplary in his field, and it was a remarkable journey getting to assist him in theatre and learn from his years of experience. He performs surgeries early in the morning while Delhi is still sleeping, calm and peaceful. It's his passion and dedication towards his work that has highly motivated me to pursue my career goals further. These six months were undoubtedly some of the most productive months of my life.

Of all the skills that I acquired from the wide variety of cases that I assisted during this fellowship, what intrigued me the most was the fact that each step of surgery was so meticulously designed and performed and that the same steps, even the smallest ones, were followed every time without failure, eliminating any possibility of mistakes. It was like watching a book perform the surgeries! I shall carry these tips and tricks from Dr. Bajaj back home with me and I am sure they will definitely stay with me in the long run.
A special mention about Mr. Bharat who has been with Dr. Bajaj for the past 15 years. I am thankful to him for being so hospitable and helping me by sharing his experiences about the daily proceedings, the instruments and OT etiquettes and making me feel home in a new environment.
I am also highly obliged to Dr. Ovesh, the physiotherapist, for always being there to help me out. His knowledge in the field of physiotherapy and rehabilitation is very impressive and he is one of the finest in his field that I have come across.

I would like to thank all the OT staffs, OPD staffs and all the members of Bajaj Clinic for being very supportive and making my stay so fruitful. Lastly, I would like to extend my sincere acknowledgement to ISKSAA for granting me this lifetime opportunity. Once again, my heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Bajaj for having me, caring for me and being a patient teacher.

It feels like these six months passed by too quickly and I look forward to an opportunity to get back and learn more.

Regards
