ISKSAA JRC AUSTRALIA TRAVELLING FELLOWSHIP 2023
I am deeply honored to have been awarded the prestigious ISKSAA Australia Travelling Fellowship in January 2023. I extend my sincere gratitude to Dr. Pushpinder Bajaj, Dr. Lalit Maini, and the entire ISKSAA team for entrusting me with this exceptional opportunity.
As part of the fellowship, we were afforded the opportunity to visit and engage with four eminent institutions in Adelaide—Ashford Hospital, Western Hospital, Calvary Central District Hospital, and Memorial Hospital.
The fellowship was structured around advanced training in arthroplasty of the hip, knee, and shoulder, in addition to arthroscopic procedures of the knee and shoulder. Under the esteemed mentorship of Prof. Jegan Krishnan, a distinguished authority in this field, I had the opportunity to observe a wide spectrum of complex surgical procedures. These included Direct Anterior Total Hip Arthroplasty, Mini-Posterior Total Hip Arthroplasty, Primary and Revision Reverse Shoulder Arthroplasty, Robotic-Assisted Knee Replacement, and Rotator Cuff Repair procedures.
This fellowship proved to be an immensely enriching academic experience. Prof. Jegan Krishnan, along with Dr. Sunil Reddy, Dr. Aman Sood, Dr. Bobby Pandit, and Dr. Mario Penta, ensured that the four-week program was both intellectually rigorous and professionally rewarding. We were granted the valuable opportunity to scrub in for close intraoperative observation, which significantly enhanced our clinical understanding. The entire team extended exceptional hospitality, fostering an inclusive environment that encouraged active participation in interdepartmental discussions, case evaluations, and pre-operative planning. A special thanks to Sarah and Nicholas for making all the arrangements.
In conclusion, I remain profoundly grateful to ISKSAA for providing such a comprehensive and well-structured learning platform within a limited timeframe. This fellowship has substantially augmented my clinical acumen and surgical insight, and I look forward to integrating these learnings into my practice. I strongly recommend this fellowship to orthopedic surgeons seeking to advance their expertise through international exposure and high-quality academic engagement.
