ISKSAA CSI DELHI FELLOWSHIP 2025
I am pleased to present my 8 months experience of the ISKSAA Clinical Fellowship undertaken at the Centre for Sports Injury (CSI), New Delhi, under the mentorship of Dr. Pushpinder Singh Bajaj .
This fellowship provided comprehensive exposure to a high-volume, advanced clinical and surgical environment. Under the guidance of Dr. Bajaj, I was able to develop a deeper understanding of arthroscopic principles and techniques. His structured approach to teaching and ability to simplify complex procedures—particularly anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, revision ACL reconstruction using bone–patellar tendon–bone (BPTB) grafts, and mini-open Bankart repair—were of immense educational value.
During the fellowship, I gained significant experience in:
- Arthroscopic and Surgical Techniques: Active participation in and observation of advanced arthroscopic procedures performed in modern modular operating theatres, along with multidisciplinary exposure to arthroplasty (including robotic-assisted procedures), foot and ankle surgery, and spine surgery.
- Clinical Decision-Making: Enhanced understanding of patient evaluation, surgical indications, pre-operative planning, and evidence-based post-operative management protocols. Additionally, exposure to dynamic MRI at CSI broadened my perspective regarding its clinical applications.
- Rehabilitation Protocols: Interaction with an experienced physiotherapy team, facilitating a holistic appreciation of post-operative rehabilitation and return-to-sport strategies.
Dr. Bajaj’s commitment to academic rigor and surgical excellence has significantly contributed to my professional development. I also extend my sincere gratitude to the entire CSI team for their continuous support and collaborative environment.
A notable highlight of the fellowship was the opportunity to serve as an on-field orthopaedic surgeon at the World Para-Athletic Championship 2025, which provided invaluable real-world experience in sports injury management.
In conclusion, this fellowship represents a highly rewarding academic and clinical experience. I strongly recommend it to orthopaedic surgeons seeking to advance their expertise in sports medicine and joint reconstruction.
Warm Regards
Dr. Pankaj Vir Singh
