ISKSAA JRC AUSTRALIA TRAVELLING FELLOWSHIP 2025
Receiving the ISKSAA Australia Travelling Fellowship in August 2025 was a truly rewarding milestone in my academic journey. I sincerely thank Dr. Pushpinder Bajaj, Dr. Lalit Maini, and the entire ISKSAA organization for selecting me for this prestigious international fellowship program.
Over the course of four weeks in Adelaide, we were exposed to a highly enriching academic and surgical environment across several renowned institutions, including Ashford Hospital, Western Hospital, Calvary Central District Hospital, and Memorial Hospital.
The training program was centered around contemporary approaches in hip, knee, and shoulder arthroplasty, along with advanced arthroscopic procedures of the shoulder and knee. Under the mentorship of Prof. Jegan Krishnan and Dr. Sunil Reddy, whose expertise and surgical excellence are internationally recognized, we had the opportunity to observe and learn from a broad range of complex procedures. These included robotic-assisted total knee replacement, direct anterior and mini-posterior total hip arthroplasty, reverse shoulder arthroplasty in both primary and revision settings, and arthroscopic rotator cuff repair surgeries.
One of the most valuable aspects of the fellowship was the hands-on academic exposure and close interaction with the surgical teams. Prof. Jegan Krishnan, along with Dr. Sunil Reddy, Dr. Aman Sood, Dr. Bobby Pandit, and Dr. Mario Penta, ensured that we were actively involved throughout the program. We participated in case discussions, operative planning sessions, departmental meetings, and were given the privilege to scrub in and closely observe surgeries on a daily basis.
Apart from the tremendous educational value, the warmth and hospitality extended by the consultants and hospital teams made the experience even more memorable. Their willingness to teach, guide, and include us in every aspect of patient care created an environment that was both inspiring and motivating.
This fellowship has significantly broadened my understanding of modern orthopaedic practice and provided insights that I look forward to incorporating into my own surgical work. I remain deeply grateful to ISKSAA for creating such an exceptional platform for young surgeons to learn from leading experts internationally. I would wholeheartedly encourage aspiring orthopaedic surgeons interested in arthroplasty and sports medicine to apply for this remarkable fellowship opportunity.
