I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Dr. Pushpinder Bajaj, Dr. Lalit Maini, Dr Sanjeev Anand and Dr Birender Balain for providing me the opportunity to learn and develop my knowledge and skills in SPINE through the ISKSAA TRAVELLING FELLOWSHIP at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital,Oswestry UK.

I am blessed and honored to be selected for this opportunity to work with Dr. Birender Balain sir. I thank him wholeheartedly for the great experience during my stay at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital in as a fellow.

I still remember On my first day Dr Birender Balain sir himself came to office to pick me and showed me the hospital premises, firstly I Really thank you sir for your simplicity and humbleness. Later Dr Balain sir introduced us to OT Staff and other doctors in the spine department.He also requested them to allow us in their OT to observe and also advised us to attend teaching program and MDT.

During my period we witnessed about 22 procedures in a span of 15 days and it was an eye treat to watch sir operate. Most importantly Dr. Balain discussed all the cases with fellows before surgery and after surgery. The working atmosphere is so great that I fell in love with the way it was disciplined. Dr. Balain sir answered all the doubts I had and the discussion was surrounded by evidence based medicine.

I could witness a vast surgeries in the field of SPINE This included Decompression, Endoscopic Decompression, FUSION (XALIF,XLIF), ACDF, Nerve Root Injection, Scoliosis correction and many more.

Apart from orthopaedics,I did have some great discussions about the food, places to travel, career guidance. Dr balain sir is such an amazing person and a surgeon who creates a positive aura around him and such an energetic man. I can't get enough of working with him.

I would highly recommend all the young surgeons who would want to learn how beautiful SPINE surgeries can be to visit Dr. Birender Balain. He is the surgeon of great caliber and an awesome human being. I also thank Dr Jaffray,dr Davidson,dr Matt,dr Shashank,dr Sujay,dr munigangaiah,dr saf, dr brown,Dr Sri and OT Staff for guiding and teaching me.

I came back to India with new ideas, pleasant memories and knowledge that have helped us for becoming more mature surgeon. Overall this wonderful opportunity provided by Dr. Pushpinder Bajaj, Prof. Maini and their team, made further special by the paternal guidance of Dr Birender Balain was one of the best thing that happened to us and we would surely go a long way in shaping my academic and professional career. We sincerely thank everyone at ISKSAA and RJAH for providing me this marvelous opportunity.
